Policy Brief #6: DEED RESTRICTIONS IN MAUI COUNTY
Maui’s affordable housing crisis is caused by a lack of supply. This lack of supply is worsened by the use of housing for short-term rentals. Limited infrastructureand stringent zoning laws prevent housing development. To address this crisis, Maui County must build affordable housing, reform zoning, and provide economic support to help local families afford housing.
